corona canopy

The very first project of Studio Fabian Lorenz was the design of a light-weight canopy structure acting as a weather shelter during all four seasons. The idea for the Corona Canopy was developed at the onset of the Covid 19 pandemic to provide a gathering space and outdoor shelter for the community to gather outside of restaurants, bars, and other places of gathering.

The structure of the Corona Canopy is inspired by car manufacturing processes, more specifically, the hydraulic pressing of sheet metal into complex shapes. This process allows for weight efficiency, by keeping high structural stability and the possibility for elegant, seamless design.

The mounting of the canopy would be facilitated through cast-in-place anchors, into which the canopy can dock for very quick and efficient installation and deinstallation.
