hermitage 1
Hermitage 1 is inspired by countryside living. Solitude meets the longing and understanding for the transcendent. As a symbol for this, the nightly moon is celebrated throughout reminding us of the uncertainty that comes with solitude and darkness.
On the outside, a patinated copper shell blends the structure into its environment, while a bright interior featuring light woods and textured plastered walls creates an interior atmosphere of comfort and emotional safety.
A connection between the inside living space and the outside nature is facilitated by a large glass portal that opened in its entirety allows the living space to extend infinitely into its surroundings.
The project follows a reduced and simple plan layout that creates flow and openness throughout the interior of the building and maintains visual connectivity from all view points throughout the structure.
